RHP Daniel Cabrera was rocked in 3.2 innings Sunday against the Yankees, but the most glaring stat-line was blank. Cabrera -- whose velocity is noticeably down this season -- didn't strike out a batter for the first time since July 25, 2004. He was asked after the game if he was pitching fully healthy and replied with, "I don't have an answer for that question right now."

RHP Daniel Cabrera's undetermined arm issues had his weekend start in question. That question has been answered -- Cabrera will not start this weekend because he'll be serving a six-game suspension. Cabrera earned the suspension after hitting Yankees star Alex Rodriguez with a pitch July 29. After appealing the suspension, and after learning it was upheld, the timing was right for Cabrera to serve the penalty. He underwent an MRI on his right elbow Tuesday, and despite a clean report, was still unaware of when his sore arm would rebound enough to appear in a game. Cabrera has seen a dip in velocity in the second half of the season, perhaps a result of discomfort. He told reporters Wednesday that the ailment was "tendonitis" -- commonly treated with rest. Six games will allow Cabrera to skip his regularly scheduled Saturday start. The Orioles will move the rest of the rotation up one day to accommodate the opening.

RHP Daniel Cabrera was suspended for six games for hitting Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez with a pitch in the eighth inning of Tuesday's game. He was ejected from the contest. The highly criticized ejection was made by plate umpire Chad Fairchild -- a minor league ump filling in for a vacationing major league umpire. Cabrera, who is scheduled to pitch in Seattle on Sunday, is expected to appeal the suspension.

RHP Daniel Cabrera was dominant Tuesday. For once, it looked as if the inconsistent flame-thrower had his command and his composure. Then, after hitting Alex Rodriguez with an eighth-inning pitch, the Orioles starter was ejected. Cabrera served up a home run to Rodriguez in the sixth, and he plunked the reigning American League MVP in his next at-bat, drawing a swift ejection by home plate umpire Chad Fairchild, who explained to Orioles manager Dave Trembley that the prior home run came into play with his decision-making.

RHP Daniel Cabrera showed a lack of composure Sunday. The powerful right-hander walked six, unleashed a wild pitch and hit one batter. He also showed disdain towards home plate umpire Ted Barrett on what Cabrera thought was a missed called strike. Cabrera allowed one earned run on six hits in 4 1/3 innings.
