Edwin Encarnacion is playing like a man obsessed while Robinson Cano couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Check out who else is hot and who's not in the stock market.

Scott Linebrink - RP - Chicago White Sox
RHP Scott Linebrink threw a bullpen session before Monday's double dip at Camden Yards, making it the fourth time the veteran has thrown off the mound in the last 10 days. The reliever has been on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in the right shoulder and has been on the shelf since July 23. The plan now is for him to pitch a simulated game. "Yeah, that's the next step. Start working in all the pitches and start seeing some hitters," Linebrink said. "I don't know if I'd say I'm feeling better. I think the ball coming out of my hand today was a little better. (Pitching coach Don Cooper) was encouraged by it."

Andy Pettitte - SP - New York Yankees
LHP Andy Pettitte gave up one run on five hits in seven innings to give the Yankees a desperately needed win. Pettitte, who had not won in his past three starts, said the win offered him a bit of relief after the rough stretch, which coincided with the Yankees' swoon. "I'm extremely disappointed with the way I pitched and it was nice to throw a good game tonight," Pettitte told reporters.

Andruw Jones - CF - Los Angeles Dodgers
CF Andruw Jones missed his fourth consecutive game Friday on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday night at Colorado Springs after injuring his surgically repaired right knee when he stepped in a hole chasing a fly ball earlier this week. Jones' injury isn't believed to be serious, and he could return to the lineup as soon as Saturday. Jones is 3 for 9 with two home runs on this rehab. He did not appear in Las Vegas' 12-0 win over Colorado Springs Friday.

Stephen Drew - SS - Arizona Diamondbacks
SS Stephen Drew hit a leadoff homer, his second this season, Sunday against Florida's Ricky Nolasco. Drew is batting .313 with five home runs and 25 RBIs in 51 games as Arizona's leadoff hitter.

Johnny Cueto - SP - Cincinnati Reds
RHP Johnny Cueto's elbow soreness is not serious enough for the disabled list, according to a diagnosis by team physician Dr. Tim Kremchek. But Cueto won't start on his turn Saturday and manager Dusty Baker is talking about that spot being filled by either LHP Adam Pettyjohn or LHP Matt Maloney.

Chris Snyder - C - Arizona Diamondbacks
C Chris Snyder did not commit an error and is the only catcher in the majors without one.

Raul Ibanez - LF - Seattle Mariners
LF Raul Ibanez is hitting .394 (38-for-99) for August with nine doubles, two triples, six homers and 26 RBIs.

Jim Thome - DH - Chicago White Sox
DH Jim Thome continued to climb in the record books. His 28th homer of the season not only proved to be the game winner but was the 535th home run of his career. He moved into sole possession of 15th place on the career list. Thome moved past Jimmie Foxx and is within one of Mickey Mantle on baseball's home-run chart.

Daniel Cabrera - SP - Baltimore Orioles
RHP Daniel Cabrera's undetermined arm issues had his weekend start in question. That question has been answered -- Cabrera will not start this weekend because he'll be serving a six-game suspension. Cabrera earned the suspension after hitting Yankees star Alex Rodriguez with a pitch July 29. After appealing the suspension, and after learning it was upheld, the timing was right for Cabrera to serve the penalty. He underwent an MRI on his right elbow Tuesday, and despite a clean report, was still unaware of when his sore arm would rebound enough to appear in a game. Cabrera has seen a dip in velocity in the second half of the season, perhaps a result of discomfort. He told reporters Wednesday that the ailment was "tendonitis" -- commonly treated with rest. Six games will allow Cabrera to skip his regularly scheduled Saturday start. The Orioles will move the rest of the rotation up one day to accommodate the opening.

Luis Ayala - RP - Washington Nationals
RHP Luis Ayala remained the Mets' de facto closer despite a blown save Tuesday. Interim manager Jerry Manuel said the former Nationals reliever gives the Mets "the best chance to close the game" in LHP Billy Wagner's absence. Ayala tossed a perfect ninth inning Wednesday for his second save.

SS Jimmy Rollins' secret for snapping out of a slump? Don't take batting practice. Rollins entered Monday night in a 4-for-48 malaise that sent his average spiraling to .255. So, he decided to take his mind off his troubles by ditching batting practice before the series finale against the Dodgers. He barely has made an out since. Rollins went 3-for-3 in Monday night's victory, then followed with his fourth career five-hit game Tuesday night, fueling an improbable comeback against the Mets. In the 10th inning, his streak of eight consecutive hits was snapped with a hard-hit line drive to left field that nearly was the game-winning hit.

MIL

RHP Jeff Suppan won his fifth consecutive decision. Suppan is 5-0 in August and 12-3 in his career against Pittsburgh, for whom he played in 2003. Suppan allowed just 14 runs in six starts during August and allowed three hits in seven innings Saturday. "He threw the ball really, really well," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "He was changing speeds, spotting the ball well on the attack. Hes throwing good."

BOS

RHP Josh Beckett was relieved to hear that the ligaments in his right elbow are structurally sound after meeting with Dr. James Andrews on Friday afternoon in his Florida offices. Beckett underwent an arthrogram procedure that revealed no ligament damage in Beckett's golden arm, and the 28-year-old ace is now penciled to start next Friday against the Texas Rangers. Despite the positive news, Beckett was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 18, with the inflammation in his right elbow. While Beckett seems to be on tap for the start next week, the Sox still voiced a willingness to push him back if encounters any arm problems along the way.

MIN

RHP Joe Nathan gave up two unearned runs and did not retire a batter. Nathan allowed a single, then hit Emil Brown while ahead in the count. He fielded Ryan Sweeney's bunt attempt cleanly but threw it into the Oakland bullpen, allowing both runs to score in Oakland's 3-2 win. It was Nathan's fourth blown save of the season.

ARI

RHP Brandon Webb had his eight-game winning streak stopped Tuesday in San Diego, as well as his streak of nine consecutive quality starts. It was his first start after being struck directly in the lower left rib cage by a line drive by San Diego 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff in the sixth inning of the D-backs' 4-1 victory Aug. 21. Webb remained in the game for one more inning that night.

TEX

1B Hank Blalock officially began his career as a first baseman Friday night. Blalock, no longer able to make the throw from third base, moved across the infield after a three-day minor league rehab assignment. Infielder Chris Davis moved to third base. Blalock was 0-for-3 at the plate in a 7-5 loss to Cleveland, but had no problems in the field. "I felt good at first base," Blalock told the Dallas Morning News. "At the plate, I was up with some guys on base and I think I tried to do too much. I'll try to slow the game down and relax a little bit and stay within myself."
